Who needs an OT Driving Assessment?
An OT Driving Assessment may be required when a driver (or a learner driver) has a medical condition or disability that may affect driving capacity. You may be asked to complete an assessment by:
- The RMS or your treating doctor (referral required)
- The NDIS if you want to apply for NDIS-funded driving lessons and/or vehicle modifications.
- Your insurer (e.g. CTP) or other provider

The OT comes to your home for approximately 2 hours.
What to expect on the day
- 1
The off-road assessment with the OT conducting a visual, cognitive and physical test.
- 2
The on-road assessment in a dual control vehicle with a driving instructor and OT. You will be observed in real world traffic environments
- 3
Feedback, report and recommendations. The RMS, your referring Doctor and other relevant parties (e.g. NDIS, insurer) will be given a copy
